Summer Suspense: Still Life by Dani Pettrey

About: Romantic Suspense’s Rising Star Continues to Win Fans

Blacklisted in the photography business over a controversial shot, Avery Tate answered an ad for a crime scene photographer. She expected to be laughed at, but crime scene analyst Parker Mitchell hired her outright–and changed her life. But six months ago, when her feelings for Parker became too strong, she left his employ to sort out her heart.

Now, for the first time, Avery is facing the world that rejected her to attend the gallery opening of a photography exhibit and support her best friend, who modeled for the show. But the only image of her friend is a chilling photo of her posing as if dead–and the photographer insists he didn’t take the shot. Worse, her friend can’t be found. She immediately calls Parker for help. As Avery, Parker, and his friends in law enforcement dig into the mystery, they find themselves face-to-face with a relentless and deadly threat.

My review:

Genre: Suspense, romance, Christian fiction.

My Rating: 3 stars.

Recommendation: 16/18 up.

My favorite character is: My favorite character of the whole book wasn’t in it as much as some of the characters but I have to say what I read with Griffin in it was the best! He and his enjoyment at being annoying was hilarious.

My Verse for Griffin is Ecclesiastes 3:4

A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; (King James Version.)

My thoughts: While I enjoyed this book I skimmed a lot of the case that Avery and Parker focus on. It was just too CREEPY!!! I like suspense just fine but having the bad guy’s point of view with his sick thoughts, and therefore I’m giving it 3 stars and feeling bad for it. *huffs* But otherwise! This book is great! The hints about the missing “brother” Luke is neat and intriguing! The other case wasn’t creepy and I loved it! The action was nice not too much, just right I guess.

Spoilers!!!

Warnings: Mentions of rape, cons, sleeping with men (often… Too often but only mentioned and no details were given.) the bad guy wanting to kill a character and planning to kill the aforementioned character, and there was too much wanting to kiss and the romance was a little much for me. Ugh, there is more but that’s the main thing/s that needed to be mentioned though I should add the creepiness was too much.
